The Fairways School Governing Body is a democratically elected, representative body comprising school management, teachers and parents. The purpose of the governing body is to ensure the effective running of the school. According to the South African Schools Act, parents have to constitute the majority of the governing body.
To ensure good governance the governing body formulates and implements policies that deal with matters such as:
- The rights of admission of all learners to receive quality education
- School discipline
- Financial management
The governing body is fully–functioning and meets once a month to discuss various school related issues such as providing resources for all curriculum needs to ensure that sound teaching and learning takes place.
The School Governing Body encourages parents’ participation in all aspects of their school, including safety and security, maintenance of infra structure, fees collections, fund raising and marketing. Together with our parents, teachers and our community, our school can go from strength to strength and maintain itself as a Great School.
