isiZulu
At Fairways learners are introduced to Zulu in Grade 4 and continue until Grade 7. Mr Sydney Ngwenya is responsible for teaching all grades.
ISIZULU GRADE 4
Learners are introduced to isiZulu vocabulary and basic everyday conversation. They also learn features of Zulu culture. Learners are not formally assessed in Grade 4. Therefore Zulu does not appear on their term or yearend reports.
GRADE 5
The focus in Grade 5 is on conversational isiZulu rather than on the writing. Learners are assessed each term and a Zulu mark is given at the end of each term.
GRADE 6
By Grade 6 learners are expected to construct simple Zulu sentences. Focus is once again on conversational Zulu. Formal assessments are carried out each term and a yearend mark is also given.
GRADE 7
By Grade 7 learners must be able to identify the difference between nouns and verbs. Learners will be expected to construct sentences both in writing and orally. Assessments are carried out midyear and at yearend.
